Most Watched Viral Video This Week – Carl’s Junior

June 14th, 2009

Seriously – WTF???

Yes, i know that Carl’s Jr. tapped YouTube’s No. 2-most-subscribed channel, from a comedy group called Nigahiga, to push its new portobello-mushroom burger, but what the hell? it’s a regular whacky commercial. nothing more, can anyone explain how this video made over 3 million views in one week?

Xbox – Project Natal

June 10th, 2009

for the few of you who haven’t heard yet. xbox came out with a really cool game system to rival nintendo’s wii. the concept isn’t new, we’ve seen it billions of times in sci- fi movies, playing with your body instead of controllers.

well the future is here! but why did the geeks at microsoft launch such a cool product with such a dorky info-video???

Steve Do Us A Favor And Don’t Buy Twitter

May 6th, 2009

Yes we know, the hype on twitter is all a tweet. and now we get even more hype with rumours spreading about you buying twitter for $700,000,000.

Dude, seriously? twitter is a cute application with millions of free users, a growth rate of 40% but also an abandonment rate of 70%. Why is everybody leaving twitter after a short period of time? Coz it’s just part what we’re really looking for. We use the “what’s on your mind” feauture on facebook way more than twitter, and since facebook (and all IM’s) have cellular capabilities, we’re updating over all mediums, but not just tweets; videos, photos, music… our life.

Not to mention that twitter has no business model. In this recession economy, there’s no room for paying out such a ridiculous sum on something that will probably die out in 3 years.

But more than that Mr. Steve Jobs, you have much more important and exciting things to do with that money, like: how about fixing the Iphone battery so it won’t run out so quickly? what about a new generation of apple tv? how about creating “apple games” to enrich our entertainment?

Really, if you don’t know what to do with all that cash, just write to me, i’ll give you great ideas.

Or press “donate” on the page and buy me millions of cups of coffee. Sure could use them while i think up some big ideas for you :)

Augmented Reality

May 3rd, 2009

I’ve been hearing a lot about this new fad called “augmented reality” and I was just thinking to myself: “are we onto something really awsome or is this “geeks only” territory?”.
At first glance it looks cool. Augmented reality (stupid name) is supposed to put you in a virtual world with holograms. like the star wars’ princess leia hologram. but we’re far from it.
lego is doing something exciting which let’s kids put a new lego box up to a digital camera and see a 3d model of the toy inside

And Fanta wants us to play tennis with our cellphones as if they were mini wii’s.

Which seems kinda dumb coz we know we’d never really use “augmented reality” that way.

I think lego is on the right track, since it would really be cool to see what’s in the box before we buy it, but i can think of even better ways to use it.

Remember all those dates you went on because you thought her picture on the dating site was cute only to be really really dissapointed? Well think of all the angst you could have spared yourself if you had a hologram of her.

now that’s useful! Not playing tennis in the street instead of the comfort of your funky living room.

We’ve been coming up with some cool ideas for augmented reality, like the dating hologram i mentioned, a 3d auto website and more.

how about sharing some of yours? let’s see if we can up with something that will make people go “dammmmmnnn!”

Pirate Copy Made Me Buy Theatre Ticket

April 30th, 2009

A few days ago a friend of mine handed me a copy of x-men origins: wolverine. you know the one that leaked to the web a few weeks back. usually i turn down these offers coz hey – i like movies. i like watching them on the big screen, so why go for second best. but i’m also a die-hard comics fan and well… the temptation was just too great. i slipped it into the dvd player and you know what? i was so dissapointed. not at the movie, but at the quality. no sound effects, no big bangs, no visually stunning special effects. and what was frustrating is you could tell that there’s a cool movie there. 10 minutes later i pressed stop, called up my bros (yes, at 37 we still love comics) and bought tickets to see it on saturday.

hell i’ll wait another day and pay up the few bucks, but at least i won’t feel like i was getting played
